TJ Johnson was born in Aynor, South Carolina just outside of Myrtle Beach. This is where his fascination for the outdoors began. He grew up hunting ducks, doves, quail, and predators but it wasn't until his freshman year of college that he killed his first turkey. TJ played football at the University of South Carolina where he holds the record for the most consecutive starts. According to TJ, "a friend of mine used to let me go to his place on the weekends and hunt not too far from campus. It was during the spring and he wanted to take me to try and get my first bird. That hunt to this day was still one of the most memorable hunts I have been on. The bird really put a show on for us and that was all it took for me to become hooked.
TJ is now an offensive lineman in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals. He is married to Jaime and also has a passion for training labs and running hunt test. "My football schedule times up perfectly for getting to chase spring gobblers. As soon as turkey season is in I bounce around state to state trying to fill my tags. There is nothing like watching God's creation wake up on the morning and that longbeard's gobble piercing the morning silence. I also feel that having the Foxpro calls in my hands or mouth gives me the best opportunities to fill my tags."
